The eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Canary Island of La Palma has continues – combining mild explosive phases producing pyroclastic deposits with effusive phases producing flows of lava.
More than 1,000 buildings have been destroyed and huge amounts of ash deposited (see photo).
