Marbella’s Starlite music festival could be on the move, with organisers considering taking the event to another location following friction with the town hall.

In a statement, organisers said: “Talks have already begun with the governments of other municipalities” for the 2018 edition of the event, which since its inception five years ago has bought artists including Elton John, Julio Iglesias and Tom Jones to the Nagüeles quarry.

Starlite added that legal action will be taken to defend the festival’s interests, following town hall’s behaviour which the statement called ‘obstructive’.

The response was triggered by the presence of local police at the venue in the early hours of Friday, August 4, to make sure that the permitted closing time was stuck to following a concert by the Gipsy Kings.
