Fire crews called to a fire at a solicitor’s office in Madrid last Wednesday afternoon found the bodies of two women and a man. One of the women had had her throat slit, the man had fatal head injuries and the third victim had been hit on the head.
The practice in the Usera district of the city is run by a Peruvian lawyer, 35-year-old Víctor Joel Salas Coveñas, who was a prosecutor in his home country handling kidnapping and drug-trafficking cases. He was not in his office at the time and is now under a witness protection order.
