Meanwhile, the search continues of main suspect Younes Abouyaaqoub, who jumped out of the van and fled the area through Les Boqueries market. Police are now linking his escape to the death Pablo Pérez, who was found stabbed to death in the back seat of a Ford Focus car that jumped a police control shortly after the attacks. Younes is believed to have killed him to hijack the car in his attempt to escape. The vehicle was later abandoned in San Just Desvern – five kilometres from Barcelona.
