Pedro Sánchez has been voted in as Prime Minister following a tense and bad tempered debate in the Congress.
The Socialist party (PSOE) politician received the backing he needed after promising an amnesty to Catalan separatists.
This will allow him to form a coalition government with left-wing party Sumar.
