THE regional parliament’s public auditing body, the Cámara de Cuentas, is to carry out a probe into Mijas town hall’s process of auctioning off properties embargoed over tax debts during the period from 2010 to 2015 – which in some cases involved homes that were seized over minor debts and sold off quickly at majorly discounted prices.
The move was requested by the local council earlier this year at the behest of a town hall internal commission that was created to look into the auctions after a court investigation was launched into alleged irregularities and possible criminal activity.
