SPANISH voters should not have to face a third general election in December, with acting prime minister Mariano Rajoy of the Partido Popular expected to be voted in during an investiture debate this Saturday, October 29.

The main opposition party, the socialist PSOE, agreed last Sunday that all of its deputies should abstain from voting in the second round of this week’s investiture debate, allowing acting prime minister Mariano Rajoy, of the conservative PP, to be re-elected to office.
