THE PP government this week began to feel the consequences of no longer having an overall majority as all left-wing and nationalist parties joined forces to scrap the controversial Citizen’s Security Law (Ley de Seguridad Ciudadana) – nicknamed ‘Ley Mordaza’ (Gagging Law) by opposition groups.
The previous PP overall majority government approved the law that was met with strong social and political opposition including huge demonstrations against it at the time. Many parties promised to scrap the law in their recent election campaigns.
