A 30-year-old ‘English-speaking’ woman was forced to spend most of Saturday night sheltering in a cave on Puig Campana mountain in Finestrat.
A spokesman for the provincial fire service explained that the walker had become lost as darkness fell and had also suffered a knee injury.
He said the search operation carried out by the mountain rescue team had been ‘complicated’.
