A bedraggled mother and her pup were pulled out of the Canal del Saladar water channel in Santa Pola on Sunday.
A spokesman for the provincial fire service reported that the local brigade had been alerted that morning about the precarious situation of the dogs.
Firefighters wearing waders found the mum and pup in an area of reeds, where they were stuck in the water.
