MIJAS will have a special Valentine’s Day this year after the town was announced as the starting point of the first stage of the 64th Vuelta a Andalucía – Ruta del Sol cycling race, a five-day tour through the region running from February 14 to 18.
While the full team and rider line-up has yet to be finalised, around 22 teams and many top riders from around the world are expected. Among the first riders to confirm their participation are French Ag2r La Mondiale team member Romain Bardet, who took second and third place at the Tour de France in 2016 and 2017 respectively, and Spanish Movistar Team rider Mikel Landa, who came in fourth place at this year’s Tour de France.
