The number of social security contributors increased by 128,824 people in April. This brings the national total of people in work to 20,661,195, up 420,301 over the first four months of this year.
The growth is notable in high-value sectors, such as IT and telecommunications, up 21.6%; and professional, scientific and technical activities, up 12.8%.
