Efforts are being made to protect homeless people from the cold weather.
The regional government has activated its protocol, which involves coordinating with town halls, and with the regional security and emergencies agency to ensure the ‘best possible attention’ is provided to people living on the street.
A department for equality spokesperson said cold periods are when homeless people are most vulnerable and need a more rapid and effective response.
