The government is aiming to ban smoking from ‘various communal and social areas outdoors’, and increase the price of a packet of cigarettes.
Minister for health Mónica García has not specified which public spaces her department will target with the smoking prohibition – but the measures are due to be debated today (Thursday) in a meeting of the national public health commission.
