Government has paid out €24m for December storm damage

Officials estimate total payout will reach €60 million

THE central government’s disaster relief insurance consortium has paid out over €24 million for damage claims related to the major storm on December 4 in Málaga province, with 67% of claims processed to date, said officials last week.

The government’s delegate in Málaga province, Miguel Briones, said that a total of €24,453,895 had been paid out on 6,586 claims, with 3,261 claims remaining to be processed, and more still arriving. In all, the Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros is expected pay out an estimated €60 million, he said.
