MÁLAGA’S airport museum and the ‘Amigos del Museo’ volunteer group have launched an ambitious campaign to renovate a De Havilland Dove plane and restore it to its former glory in the colours of the now-defunct British Eagle airline, which operated flights from the UK to Málaga and Gibraltar during the 1960s.

The Dove was the museum’s first plane, landing in 1979 after it was used during the filming of Richard Lester’s Cuba, starring Sean Connery, and subsequently abandoned. Joaquin Carranza, the museum’s manager, told CDSN that the Dove was “the reason we created the museum”.
