MAYBE the weather hasn’t completely cottoned on yet, but autumn 2016 is now nine days old and Gandia is gearing up to celebrate it with the usual flamboyant, ubiquitous macro-festival – better late than never, eh?
The Fira i Festes is a lively, arty and musical way of reminding residents and visitors of the season change, giving us a much-needed endorphine dose to cheer us up as we come to terms with seeing the last of summer and the weeks of back-to-school weather dragging on until Christmas.
Just as well it’s a bank holiday weekend in Gandia, because there’s no point in going to work – the county capital of La Safor literally becomes a ginormous stage and the streets in between overflow with craft markets and traditional fêtes.
