The EU’s new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) comes into force next year, and from Monday €2.8 billion will be paid out in advances of aid to 680,000 crop and livestock farmers in Spain.
This advance represents 70% of the total aid, which is 20% more than had been assigned until now, following a modification approved by the European Commission at the request of Spain and other countries.
