AN EARTHQUAKE which occurred under the sea off Torrevieja on Sunday was felt by residents as far away as Dénia in the north of Alicante province and Cartagena in Murcia region.
The tremor struck at 17.16 at a depth of eight kilometres and measured 4.0 on the Richter scale, according to information provided by the national geographic institute (IGN).
An IGN graphic shows that the epicentre was around 25 kilometres off the coast of La Mata, Torrevieja.
