With Spain in the grip of a debate over the removal of taxes for wealthy residents, Valencia’s president Ximo Puig stated that ‘taxes cannot be neutral – one section of society has to lend support to the other’.
The fuse was lit this week when president of Andalucía, Juanma Moreno announced that his Partido Popular (PP) government will freeze wealth tax (Impuesto de Patrimonio) – a charge which is collected by regional governments.
