Elche local police have highlighted the dangers and problems caused by leaving dogs alone at home.
A spokesman for the force explained this week that they had to rescue a pet which had spent three days in a property without food or water.
They explained that neighbours reported that the animal had been ‘barking and crying without stopping’.
