Doctor shortage set to hit the health service this summer

The health service in the Valencia region is bracing for a difficult summer.

Regional councillor for health, Marciano Gómez said on Wednesday that the national shortage of doctors ‘is putting the opening of 54 summer auxiliary surgeries at risk’ and could impact on holiday cover for medical staff at health centres and hospitals.

Unions criticize that Valencia has still not published its plans for the holiday season.
