TWO British pensioners had their retirement home in the sun razed to the ground on Monday, bringing a legal battle with Vélez-Málaga town hall over the property to an end. The town hall said that by knocking down the Almayate property, it was “complying with the sentence” handed down by the town’s Criminal Court 4 in July, ordering the property to be demolished.
The decision has forced expats Gillian and Bob Ward to live in a friend’s property in Torre del Mar whilst they consider their next move. Gillian said they have been left “devastated and homeless”.
