Investigators now believe the running over of pedestrians with a van in Barcelona’s Las Ramblas may have been the terrorists’ ‘Plan B’ after a much larger attack involving possibly several vans and over 20 bottles of butane gas was thwarted by the explosion at the alleged cells’ hideout at a house in Alcanar (Tarragona) the previous night.
At least two bodies (possibly other cell members), the gas bottles and weapons have been found among the debris of the Alcanar house.
