Jávea town hall ordered the closure of the Arenal beach on Tuesday shortly after 11.00 as a consequence of the results of the latest water analysis carried out by the general directorate for water.
The local authority published a statement which noted that it showed the presence of ‘diverse bacteria’.
According to state news agency EFE, this was of ‘faecal origin’.
