THE provincial court has upheld the conviction of Carmen Marín, the former director of the Parque Animal shelter and municipal pound in Torremolinos, on charges of animal abuse and document fraud in relation to the “massive and unjustified” euthanising of animals.

In January of this year Málaga’s number 14 criminal court sentenced Sra Marín to three years and nine months in prison, plus fines totalling €19,800. An employee, Felipe Barco, was also found guilty of animal abuse and sentenced to a year in prison, a ruling that the provincial court also upheld on the appeal.
