A RECORD summer is on the cards for the province of Málaga. With holiday reservations booming and thousands of cruise passengers expected, the local tourism sector is bracing itself for another busy season.
One UK travel group says summer bookings to Spain are already up nine per cent on last year. TUI, trading as Thomson and First Choice, says terror alerts have “subdued” business to Turkey and Egypt while this country is showing “significant growth” on 2015.
In addition to national optimism in the sector, Málaga is expecting the number of cruise passenger liners arriving at the port to show an increase on last year. Between March and June, a total of 93 liners will dock in the city bringing a potential total of over 140,000 visitors to the province.
