DUE to the length and difficulty involved in the day 2 stage, some walkers may prefer to stay in the Cap de Llauset mountain refuge on day 1 instead of descending a further 10.3km to Conangles refuge – and take a short cut on the GR 11.5 next day to meet the day 2 route.
It is the awkward boulder fields in the Salenques ravine/valley on day 2 which may put people off as they make the going incredibly slow (around 1km/h!).
