OLIVA police are said to be upping their presence on the beat ‘throughout the town’ this summer, following a summit meeting between the local force, the Guardia Civil and political party leaders.
They discussed and agreed on a ‘set procedure’ for streamlining efforts between Local Police and the Guardia Civil, especially in domestic violence cases.
It is not clear whether this will include the old town, where the crime rate is very high – despite residents’ ongoing campaigns for police and town hall action, which have largely fallen on deaf ears.
