A FURIOUS farmer whose orange saplings were stolen within a fortnight of buying them has seen them planted in a neighbouring field.
The brazen thieves took the trees, which are of excellent quality and for which their rightful owner paid a premium, from the farm in the Sant Bernat area just outside Alzira and planted them in their own grounds just two kilometres away.
According to the owner, his two acres of orange groves are at the end of a long footpath and some distance from the nearest main road, meaning the thieves would not have been seen at work.
