CULLERA (Valencia) has become the latest town to ban circuses and fairs that include shows with live animals.
The municipal executive, led by PSPV and Compromís, agreed this week to prohibit all activities that involve submitting animals to long taming programmes that involve severe physical and psychological stress for the creatures.
In addition, the ban on circuses also extends to fair rides involving ponies or other animals.
The town hall announced this week that they find it ‘deplorable’ that in order to schedule these activities, living creatures are forced to travel in tough conditions and enduring ‘sudden changes of temperature and climate that affect them negatively’.
