CHRISTMAS shoppers in Gibraltar are being warned off a couple of potentially popular Christmas presents that are prohibited or highly restricted on the Rock.
“Segways and drones have grown in popularity recently and their dropping prices means that they are becoming more accessible for purchase by the general public,” said local authorities last week in a statement aimed to “raise public awareness regarding these products to avoid any disappointments over the festive season.”
In the case of Segways – or similar self-balancing two-wheeled electric personal transport vehicles – it is illegal to import them into Gibraltar as well as to use them there, whether on public or private property, according to the statement from the Office of Fair Trading in conjunction with HM Customs, the Civil Aviation Authority and the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority
