A government enquiry has opened into days of chaos at Spanish airports caused by “operational problems” at Vueling Airlines.
Problems for the Barcelona-based low-cost carrier began last Thursday and increased through the weekend and into this week as the peak summer holiday season got underway.
Locally, on Sunday one flight from Málaga to Barcelona was cancelled, along with arrivals from Bilbao and Barcelona, while other Vueling departures were delayed, mostly by between 30 and 60 minutes. However, one flight to Geneva took off two hours and 40 minutes later than scheduled while an arrival from Gran Canaria was three hours and 35 minutes late in touching down.
