The special summer traffic campaign was launched on Friday by the national traffic department (DGT).
A DGT spokesman said they are expecting 84 million car journeys to be made during July and August, a 3.5% increase on last year.
He explained that special operations will run to coincide with the busiest times.
The first of these, ‘Operación Salida’, took place last weekend for the big getaway from the cities to the coast.
A total of 10 people died in road traffic accidents around Spain over the three days.
