GIBRALTAR will be included in the UK’s negotiated exit from the EU, confirmed European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker last week, noting that the effective veto the EU provided Spain over deals applying to Gibraltar will take effect only after the formal Brexit process is complete.
Mr Juncker’s statement came in a parliamentary response to a question from UKIP MEP William (The Earl of) Dartmouth on the EU’s negotiating guidelines for Brexit, which include a clause giving Spain the ability veto the application to Gibraltar of any future agreement between the UK and the EU.
