THE trial in which Princess Cristina and her husband are to face questioning has been continuing in a Balearic Islands’ courtroom. The Princess, elder sister of King Felipe, is expected to give evidence next Friday, February 26.
She is accused of being an accomplice to her husband, former Olympic handball player Iñaki Urdangarin, who is being investigated for allegedly using his not-for-profit company on Mallorca to win inflated contracts from regional governments, before siphoning off cash into private accounts held in tax havens.
The 50-year-old princess was a member of the board of his charitable Nóos sports foundation and, with him, she co-owned Aizoon, a real estate company which prosecutors have claimed they used to launder embezzled cash.
