PUBLIC Works minister Íñigo de la Serna on Saturday presented the results of the first phase of a study into the design options for the extension of the Málaga-Fuengirola Cercanías train line to Marbella and Estepona.

The study has reduced the options to two principal routes: along the A-7, which would require tunnelling on nearly the entire route; or along the AP-7, with the tracks veering down to the coast in the urban areas served by the line.
