The National Police have arrested eight people in the break-up of a shoplifting gang that officials say stole some €600,000 of merchandise in a span of just three months.
Police said the Romanian gang, made up of six women and two men, travelled around Málaga, Cádiz and Granada provinces stealing goods from stores by using specially prepared bags that prevented the alarm systems from detecting the security tags attached to the merchandise.
The gang worked in 12-hour shifts, with the two men driving the women around and dropping them off in teams of two or three to hit the targeted stores, then picking them up and taking them to the next location, said officials.
