The usual green silhouette of a man displayed at pedestrian crossings has a new companion. The first of 20 gender-equal signals, displaying a walking man with a walking woman, went into use in Valencia on Monday. However, the project has been criticised by the city’s opposition Partido Popular who say there are “more important things” and by social media users who called the signals “patronising.”
