Prime minister Mariano Rajoy had his first conversation with US president-elect Donald Trump on Monday afternoon. During a 20 minute phone call, Trump’s 40th private conversation with world leaders, they are reported to have discussed global terrorism and Brexit. Sr Rajoy chairs a session of the UN Security Council in New York next Tuesday, but the two men are not expected to meet.
