Contract negotiations between Vélez-Málaga and transport company Alsa are threatening plans to re-open the town’s tranvía. Alsa holds the operating concession for the tramway to Torre del Mar but a meeting last Friday highlighted differences between the two parties. The town says it is talking to the regional government about reverting to operating three tram units, augmented by bus services, instead of buying new units.
