The Junta de Andalucía has renewed Mijas’s status as an official ‘tourism town’, meaning local stores are allowed to open on Sundays and holidays during the summer high season (July 1 to September 15) and from Palm Sunday to Holy Saturday of Semana Santa. The renewal of the designation runs until 2021.
