Taxpayers’ Loss

The Bank of Spain says that €38 billion used to bailout the country’s banking system will never be recovered. The state contributed €26.3 billion of taxpayers’ money but just 5% of the total €51.3 billion has been recovered in the intervening seven years. This losses contrast sharply with the €16 billion which has been cut from education and health spending in the last five years.
