A young Bulgarian tourist was rescued last Thursday morning after spending a night drifting on her surfboard off Tarifa. She was finally spotted, suffering from exhaustion and mild hypothermia, three miles offshore in the Strait of Gibraltar by an off-duty police officer on a fishing trip. The girl had gone for a midnight dip but was swept away by strong currents.
