Maricruz Ruiz González, the woman who as a child served as the model for Benalmádena’s famous La Niña statue in the Pueblo’s Plaza de España, met with the town’s mayor Victor Navas last Friday, March 19. The council are to honour the work’s 50th anniversary next year with an event, and Navas said both González and sculptor Jaime Pimentel would be welcome as guests. González said she never thought La Niña “would reach such importance”.
