Pupils at Benalmádena’s El Tomillar primary school, in Arroyo de la Miel, returned to their classrooms on Monday after the facility was closed on Friday for fumigation, following the discovery of an infestation of fleas. The insects were detected last week after both students and teachers suffered bites, and an inspection by health officials located the source of the fleas in the school’s internal parking area, leading to the fumigation.
