A group of Spanish journalists wants the Human Rights Court in Strasbourg to declare the controversial Citizens’ Safety Law illegal. The legislation, nicknamed the gag law, came into effect in July and makes unlawful a range of offences, such as disrespecting a police officer. The platform “Defender a quien defiende” wants it to be declared an attack on the freedom of speech and information.
