The new prison at Archidona is expected to open partially in the immediate future. The secretary-general of penal institutions, Angel Yuste, told a parliamentary commission last week that, together with another new facility in Ceuta, 645 jobs have been created. In response to questions he added that Spain presently has 2.19 prisoners for every staff member, a figure similar to that of recent years.
