Vélez-Málaga is considering a proposal to take over responsibility for the paseo marítimo in Torre del Mar. The seafront walkway, at three kilometres in length, is one of the longest in Europe and is presently managed by the regional government. If the Junta cedes it to the municipality, the town will become responsible for the infrastructure including its gardens, lighting and cleaning.
