Estepona town hall last week inaugurated a new park in Calle Alejo Carpentier, named after Miguel Ángel Blanco, a Basque Country councillor whose kidnapping and murder by ETA in July 1997 caused nationwide outcry against the Basque separatist terrorist group. The naming of the park after Blanco came at the 20th anniversary of his death, which was commemorated throughout Spain last week.
